On July 20, at the Hong'an County New Industrial Park. In the production workshop of Wuhan Yitian Technology Development Co., Ltd., different characteristic raw materials are mixed and compounded through a reaction kettle, and batch after batch of diamond wire cutting coolant is produced.

“This is the company's leading product, with a 28.6% share of the domestic market and ranked second. It is a key raw material in the silicon wafer cutting process for solar energy,” said Sun Jian, the company's engineer. Silicon wafer cutting is a key process in the manufacturing of solar photovoltaic cells. Diamond wire is used to cut silicon rods into silicon wafers as thin as a hair. However, a large amount of heat is generated during the cutting process, and the coolant plays a lubricating, cooling, and cleaning role; otherwise, it will lead to poor cutting or even the risk of wire breakage.

In response to the current trend of photovoltaic enterprises pursuing large-size and thin silicon wafers, diamond wire cutting places higher demands on coolants. Yin Shiquan, chairman of the company, said that the company is market-oriented and increases R&D investment. The developed “diamond wire cutting coolant compounding” leads to technological improvements in the industry, promoting the development of thinner and smaller silicon wafer cutting in the industry, extending the service life of diamond wire, improving cutting efficiency, saving labor, machine, and electricity costs, bringing significant economic benefits, and enhancing the core competitiveness of photovoltaic enterprises.

Established in 2012, Yitian Technology is a professional manufacturer of fine chemicals for the photovoltaic industry, semiconductor additives, and other series of chemical products. It is the only high-tech enterprise in Hubei Province that independently researches and develops photovoltaic fine chemicals.

“We rely on the provincial-level fine chemical R&D enterprise-university joint innovation center and maintain long-term enterprise-university joint innovation cooperation with many universities such as Wuhan University of Technology and Huazhong University of Science and Technology,” said Yin Shiquan. Currently, the company owns 21 intellectual property rights, including 7 invention patents, has formulated 2 enterprise standards, and has been awarded the title of national specialized and new “small giant”, hidden champion demonstration enterprise, and national high-tech enterprise.

Entering the company's R&D laboratory, hundreds of glass bottles contain liquids with different numbers. After being adjusted and optimized by the staff, photovoltaic new auxiliaries with better energy efficiency are finally developed. Products include coolants, cleaning agents, degumming agents, adhesives, etc., with an annual output of more than 10,000 tons, sold to various industries in China, and are long-term suppliers to JinkoSolar, JA Solar, BYD, CNOOC, and PetroChina.

“In 2022, sales reached 120 million yuan, and it is expected that the output value will exceed 200 million yuan this year.” Speaking of the future, Yin Shiquan is full of confidence. He said that photovoltaic and other new energy industries will lead the future energy revolution, and the coolant field is a brand-new blue ocean. In order to be in a favorable position in the fierce market competition, the company will accelerate the research and development of new products, continuously improve product quality, retain old customers, and attract new orders.

According to a relevant person in charge of the Hong'an County Science and Economy Bureau, in recent years, the county has focused on improving the innovation capabilities and professionalization level of small and medium-sized enterprises, continuously cultivating and incubating specialized and new small and medium-sized enterprises and specialized and new “small giant” enterprises. At present, there are 73 high-tech enterprises, 38 innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, 26 specialized and new small and medium-sized enterprises, and 2 specialized and new “small giant” enterprises in the county.
